A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm Vanessa! I am a Yoga Alliance RYT-200, living in Los Angeles. I have been a certified yoga teacher since 2015, and an avid lover of movement all my life. Dance, gymnastics, color guard, running, whatever! I'll do it!

I began practicing yoga in my early 20s as a counter to my other activities, and became obsessed. The more I practiced, the more I realized the poses were about so much more than the movements: they were about cultivating a mind body connection. It wasn't about performance, it was about connecting to oneself. I was hooked.

In 2015 I completed my first yoga teacher training with renowned "teacher's teacher," Liz Arch. Her strong connection to anatomy and intelligent sequencing gave me an amazing foundation. I found I had a strong desire to teach, help people, and spread my love of the human body.

After years of practice, and suffering from some overuse injuries, I found Lara Heimann. A 20-year veteran of yoga and fitness, and a licensed physical therapist, Lara's approach to yoga changed the way I looked at my practice. I decided to do another teacher training to deepen my understanding of body mechanics and anatomy.

I completed my LYT yoga teacher training in the summer of 2019, and have never looked back. I incorporate both teacher trainings in every class I teach. I will forever be a student of the classroom that is the human body, and I look forward to earning my 500 hour certification.

WHY YOGA?

Yoga is a wonderfully beneficial activity that can be enjoyed by ALL PEOPLE, AND ALL BODIES. Yes, that means you! Gain more mobility, stability and strength, all while learning better body mechanics and patterns of movement, on and off the mat. That is the LYT yoga difference.

WAIT, WHAT IS LYT YOGA?

LYT yoga (Lara's Yoga Technique), is an efficient and sustainable approach to practicing yoga. LYT combines elements of classical vinyasa, physical therapy and neurodevelopmental treatment, to help students systematically override inefficient patterns of movement. Feel better, move better, move longer!

...BUT WHAT IS A CLASS LIKE?

LYT yoga feels like a "regular" vinyasa class, only we remove problematic poses, or approach them from a more sustainable way. Expect less static stretching, and more mobilization.

Oh, and it's super fun!! I love teaching thematic classes, generally centered around different muscular groups, or systems of the body. We move, we sweat, we flow, we jump, we get lyt up!!

We connect to the core in every class. We explore themes of energy conduction, mobilization of fascia, spinal stabilization, and muscular/joint movements. I strive to leave my student feeling more invigorated, and more connected to their bodies.

IS IT ACCESSIBLE?

Hell yes. Yoga is for everybody. Say it again, believe it. YOGA👏🏼 IS 👏🏼FOR 👏🏼EVERYBODY👏🏼. While the classes are challenging (they are designed to be so), expect no circus tricks or contortions. While we explore inversions and more challenging postures, everything can be scaled to your energy level. Everything, every movement, is designed from an angle of sustainability. No flashy parlor tricks that leave you with a bad back, and pulled hamstrings!

I tell my students, 'When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else. This is not just a grab-bag candy game.
